Jake Dixon's 2026 Phillip Island World Superbike Test Disrupted by Wrist Fracture
The 2026 World Superbike season has hit a bump in the road for Jake Dixon, who suffered a wrist fracture during the final day of testing at Phillip Island. This injury has ruled him out of the upcoming season opener, a double blow for the British rider and his team.
The incident occurred on Dixon's first flying lap of the day at Turn 11, the exit of MG. He fell from his factory Honda, sustaining fractures to his left wrist and a contusion to his left elbow. Initial checks at the circuit medical center confirmed the extent of the injury.
Honda's statement revealed that Dixon will now travel to Melbourne for further medical assessment. As a result of his injuries, he has been declared unfit to compete in the Australian Round, a significant setback for the rookie.
This injury is particularly unfortunate given that Dixon had been performing well in the pre-season, finishing tenth fastest on day one with a +1.147s gap, and was the top Honda rider. His absence from the opening round is a double disaster for the team, especially considering his HRC teammate Somkiat Chantra is already absent due to a training injury.
Chantra's replacement, Tetsuta Nagashima, will now step up to fill the void. Despite the setbacks, Dixon's recovery timeline is promising, with over a month to recover before his belated HRC debut in round two of the 2026 season at Portimao.
The 2026 pre-season has been eventful, with Stefano Manzi also bringing out red flags on the final morning due to an accident at Turn 2. However, Manzi has been declared fit to continue, and the final session of testing is set to take place this afternoon.
